When a Missouri car accident results in a fatality, the Missouri Highway Patrol commonly will investigate the scene and supplement any initial police reports with a comprehensive Accident Reconstruction Report. The reconstruction report usually contains detailed information on vehicle gouge marks, skid marks, yaw, speed, and impact points. The investigating officer will use proven forensic and scientific data, plug in evidence, and form an opinion as to what contributing factors caused the collision. An accident reconstruction is most commonly done when a Missouri fatal car accident occurs and there are few, if any, factual witnesses.
